Alcortin A should be used with the following warnings and precautions in mind: Contraindicated for hypersensitivity to any of the components of the preparation. Alcortin A is for external use only. In some patients, systemic absorption of topical corticosteroids has produced reversible hypothalamic-pituitaryadrenal (HPA) axis suppression and other conditions. Not intended for use on infants or under diapers or occlusive dressings. Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients under the age of 12 have not been established. Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms. Staining of the skin, hair, and fabrics may occur. Burning, itching, irritation and dryness have been reported infrequently following the topical use of corticosteroids. If these symptoms occur, use of Alcortin A should be discontinued.
